Art Right Now!

This month, Providence Coffee Roasters welcomes some of the artists from Art Right Now. The work is a mix of various media ranging from traditional painting, and photography, to digital images and mixed media, as well as beautiful decoupaged beach stones and jewelry. Each artist contributed at least one piece of art that was created for one of the monthly themed meetings. The themes from the past six months have included, Spots, Bird, Stairs, Smile, Letters, Happiness...

More about Art Right Now....

The RI Area Art Right Now! is a group of artists who meet monthly on the second Tuesday to motivate each other. We accomplish this by sharing new, original art created on a theme chosen from members' suggestions. We believe serious art can emanate from a light heart. To this end, we offer only supportive comments and try to have fun and engaging activities at each meeting. Artists working in any media and of all skill levels are invited to join. All you need is a desire to participate and create within a friendly and supportive community.

At the end of each meeting, each artist writes a noun on a slip of paper which is placed in "the hat". The newest member draws the theme from the hat filled with suggested nouns. Then artists return to their lives considering the theme and get working on a new piece of work for the following month.

Medium, formal art training, age, gender, and background vary, but a passion for making art is a constant throughout the group.

To see the art in person, enjoy a great cup of fair trade organic coffee and a crepe, and hear some smooth saxophone by Providence musician, Cliff Wood, swing by the
